Little Sense

Created in collaboration with Trehaus School, Little Sense is a weekly SonicPlay™ programme for babies aged 4 - 18months and their caregivers.
At this stage, every sound is a discovery. A wooden block becomes a drum. A scarf dances through the air. A familiar melody invites a smile, a wiggle, or a curious glance. These small moments are how babies begin making sense of the world around them. Little Sense transforms these everyday moments into playful, meaningful experiences through live music, sensory exploration, movement, storytelling, and open-ended play. Each session follows your baby's curiosity, encouraging them to explore, connect, and express themselves in ways that feel joyful and natural. Rather than directing children towards fixed outcomes, we create an environment where exploration leads the way. Babies are free to observe, experiment, repeat, and discover, while caregivers share in the experience as active companions.
Every session is facilitated by a certified SonicPlay™ pedagogista, bringing together artistic practice and early childhood pedagogy to create a calm, responsive space where both babies and adults can learn through listening, playing, and wondering together. Whether it's shaking a bell for the very first time, crawling towards an unfamiliar sound, or sharing a smile during a favourite song, Little Sense celebrates the extraordinary learning found in ordinary moments.

What happens in a LittleSense session?

Each session may include:
- Live music, singing, and musical storytelling
- Sensory-rich sound exploration using instruments and everyday materials
- Movement, rhythm, and playful body awareness
- Child-led discovery and open-ended play
- Quiet moments for listening, observation, and connection

Guided by the SonicPlay™ journey of Listen – Play – Create, every experience balances familiar routines with opportunities for spontaneous exploration, allowing babies to build confidence through repetition while following their own curiosity.

Why Little Sense?

  • Learning through curiosity
Babies are natural explorers. By following their interests, they build confidence, problem-solving skills, and a lasting sense of curiosity.
  • Building meaningful connections
Music and shared play create opportunities for joyful interaction, strengthening relationships between babies and their caregivers.
  • Exploring with all the senses
Through sound, movement, texture, and rhythm, babies engage their whole bodies as they discover how they relate to the world around them.
  • Growing confidence through repetition
Familiar songs and routines help babies feel secure, making it easier to take new risks, explore independently, and develop confidence over time.
  • A thoughtfully guided experience
Every session is carefully designed and facilitated by a SonicPlay™ pedagogista, blending performing arts, child development, and responsive facilitation into experiences that are playful, intentional, and developmentally meaningful.
